New Caledonia is hosting the Outrigging World Sprint Championships in May 2010, fourteen years after hosting the first Championships. 2500 athletes and officials from 32 affiliated countries will compete over five days in 53 events.

Australia will have a contingent of approximately 130 paddlers, including eighteen women from Far North Queensland.

Cairns Coach, Tuki Brown, has made team selections from Far North Queensland Outrigging clubs from Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Port Douglas.

Paddlers from these clubs have been training together since February 2009 at Lake Tinaroo.

Senior Masters 1 (over 45s)

Deb Maynard; Kris Bishop; Loren Van Soest; Carolyn Paterson; Michelle Lynes; Andrea Bowring.

Teams will be competing in the V6 and V12 events as well as individual V1 events.
The racesite will be at Anse Vata Beach, Noumea, with racing commencing on 25th May 2010.

All members of the FNQ squad are competing to a World Standard - the results speak for themseves!

Tuki Brown (Coach), says this is the most pleasing FNQ squad that he has taken away to the World Sprints, on many levels, especially seeing the whole squad standing on the medal dais in the V12 divisions.
